Hello friends. Im gonna try something a lil different today and change my format from elongated rants to just gettin to the point. Every post will be different in style depending on how I feel at the time but I try to be as consistent as possible.

Sensing humor is harder to do today than yesterday. Its hard to “see” sarcasm in text and because many are more enamoured with online content and contact than those that actually interact with human beings on a daily basis you have to put an “lol” or italicise the text in order for someone to “see” the difference from being funny of being serious. Its rather pathetic realy but Im kinda old. Kids are more attuned to nowadays yet theyre missing out on the ole days.
I mean people today almost need to take a class on social interaction. They look at their phones and are offended by a text because they dont understand the full context of what the person said but even if someone said the same in person alotta folks can’t read facial expressions or body language, not enough practice. Everything is gettin to impersonal, over-sensitized and desensitized as well. Many cant sense humor and many also have no sense of humor because of this.
I grew up watchin and listening to some of the greatest comedians EVER! Ill name several and maybe youll “see” why I text in chat the way I do.
Richard Pryor, Redd Fox, George Carlin, Eddie Murphy, Andrew Dice Clay, Dana Carvey, Robin Williams, Bernie Mac, Dave Spade, Rob Schneider, Dave Chappelle, (whomever created) Beavis and Butthead, The Simpsons, Jerry Seinfeld, Jim Carrey, The Wayans brothers, Adam Sandler and more recently folks like Dale Quinn, Leonarda Jonie.
This world is hard and losing, or far worse, never having a sense of humor is detrimental to society. If you cant laugh at shit then youre gonna have a miserable existence, imo. Not all mentioned above have the same sense of humor, Ill grant you that, but one must test the waters to “see” if their humor aligns with your own. If the world you “live in” is serious all the time youre never gonna find happiness and I pray that those with sense that profit from humor dont lose their sense of humor!
Whats weird is that 2 of the most sensical people I follow now, and that will change, as it has over the years, for political content are comedians! Jimmy Dore and Dave Smith. If you get a chance to watch some of their content I highly recommend it. They are on YouTube. I pray these guys dont become the next Bill Maher in that all of their humor becomes frickin political. I get it, Politicians are easy to make fun of but thats not all we wanna hear.
See?
Love ya,
Ed
P.S. name a comedian you like, not mentioned, or else!
I catch myself making a comment to people, knowing I am being sarcastic or mildly funny, then seeing the look I may get from people who take it as a serious comment or an insult to someone or something. You hit the nail on the head again, for to long to many people have stopped engaging visually with people or only communicating with a text message.
Oh I grew up with Red Skelton, Jackie Gleason and Tim Conway as most of comedians I watched or listened to.
I love this! I have pivoted all my own writing to dry humorous observations of life's absurdities. Writing in dead pan humor is in a league of it's own. lol. But for real - in my mind I call it - A Blog About Nothing - cuz I LOVE Seinfeld.
